A Brazilian butt lift, or BBL, is an operation that enhances the shape and volume of the buttocks using your own fat. Fat is collected by liposuction from selected areas, prepared and transferred to the buttocks. The aim is fuller buttock contours and improved proportions between the waist, hips and buttocks.
Genetics, ageing or weight changes can leave the buttocks flatter or less full than you would like. A Brazilian butt lift may suit you if you want to add volume, improve shape or address selected contour differences while refining areas where fat is collected. The amount of enhancement depends on your anatomy and available donor fat.
A Brazilian butt lift combines liposuction with fat transfer. Fat is collected from areas such as the abdomen, waist or thighs, processed and placed into the fatty layer beneath the buttock skin. It adds volume without buttock implants. Despite its name, it does not remove substantial loose skin; a surgical buttock lift may be more suitable when excess skin is the main concern. Some transferred fat is absorbed during healing, so the final volume develops over several months.
Adds fullness to selected areas of the buttocks using your own fat.
Improve roundness, projection and selected contour differences.
Balances the relationship between your waist, hips and buttocks.
Liposuction reshapes the areas used to collect fat.
Uses your own tissue without buttock implants.
The planned shape and degree of enhancement are tailored to your anatomy and goals.
Each stage is designed around your comfort, safety, and outcome. Dr. Gus walks every patient through this process in detail during your fully private consultation.
Dr Gus will discuss your goals and assess buttock shape, skin quality, available donor fat and overall body proportions. Your medical history, weight stability and suitability for surgery will be reviewed. Together, you will discuss the achievable result, liposuction areas, scars, recovery and risks. Your consultation will also establish whether fat transfer or another procedure better addresses your concerns.
Before surgery, relevant medical information is reviewed and factors that could influence your procedure and recovery are optimised. You will receive instructions about medications, nicotine avoidance, wound care, garments and positioning. Arrange transport and help at home, and plan how to manage work and daily activities while direct pressure on the buttocks is restricted.
The operation is performed under anaesthesia. Liposuction collects fat through small incisions in the selected donor areas. The fat is processed and transferred to shape the buttocks. Dressings are applied, and a garment may support the liposuction areas without excessive pressure on the grafted areas.
Recovery from a BBL is unique, requiring strict adherence to positional restrictions to ensure the newly transferred fat survives.
Expect swelling, bruising and soreness in the buttocks and liposuction areas. Take short, frequent walks and rest between activities. Avoid direct pressure on the buttocks. Follow your sleeping and sitting instructions; if sitting is necessary, an approved cushion supports the thighs to offload the grafts.
Discomfort generally starts to improve. Continue gentle walking and light tasks. Direct sitting remains restricted for at least the first two weeks, and often longer. Attend your follow-up and follow garment instructions. Return to work depends on comfort and whether you can avoid prolonged pressure.
Movement usually becomes easier. Gradually increase light activities, but continue any prescribed pressure restrictions. Resume driving only after clearance and when sitting is permitted.
Swelling continues to settle and the shape becomes clearer. Maintain comfortable walking and avoid strenuous exercise or activities that put pressure on the grafts. A decrease in early fullness is expected as swelling reduces and some fat is absorbed.
Daily activities generally feel easier, although swelling and firmness may remain. Normal sitting should be reintroduced only as advised. The appearance at this stage is still not the final result.
Dr Gus will assess your progress before you increase exercise. More strenuous activity is commonly resumed gradually around six to eight weeks, with clearance. Final contours continue to settle over several months. This timeline is a general guide. Your instructions depend on the extent of surgery and healing.
The ideal BBL candidate desires a more prominent, shapely posterior and has enough natural body fat to achieve the look safely.

Breast Augmentation
To increase the perceived size, restoring structural tone and vitality to the upper torso for a fuller, more balanced feminine form.
“For years, I felt that my silhouette didn’t quite match my active lifestyle. I wanted a change, but I was terrified of looking ‘overdone’ or artificial. Dr. Gus set my mind to rest. His approach turned out to be so considered the recovery was smoother than I anticipated, but the real impact was the confidence. For the first time, I feel completely at home in my own skin. I am just about the surgery. It was about the care and the precision behind it.”

No. Some fat is absorbed during healing, and the amount that survives varies. The retained fat can provide lasting volume, but the final result cannot be guaranteed.
A BBL is not a reliable treatment for substantial loose skin or cellulite. A skin-removing buttock lift or another treatment may better suit those concerns.
Direct pressure is usually restricted for at least two weeks and sometimes longer. Follow your individual sitting plan. Strenuous exercise is commonly reintroduced around six to eight weeks after review.
The fat that survives can remain long term. Ageing and weight changes can alter the shape and volume, so maintaining a stable weight helps preserve your result.
Risks include infection, bleeding, contour irregularities, fat necrosis, blood clots and fat embolism. Fat embolism can be fatal. Fat placement above the muscle is an important safeguard.
